5/18/2023 0 Comments Malwarebytes mac redditI did download from the App Store another software package (suggested by Apple) called, " Antivirus One" and nothing was found. Maybe that's a dubious and stupid conjecture on my part, but that's the full story. Being sort of obtuse, I wondered if malware had been installed on my computer. I went through all the steps I previously mentioned (more of an exercise than a necessity, I suppose) and - no matter what I did - the installation failed.Īs a full disclosure, what prompted this futile effort was a this: I ran EFF's panopticlick on Tor and on my (utterly generic) version of Safari. When I did that, an "installation error" message appeared and that's all it said. When I opened it today, I received an error message, the exact contents of which I don't recall but it didn't tell me anything specific other than to uninstall it and re-download/install again. I have used Malwarebytes on my MacBook Pro for some time to run the occasional "hygienic" check. In brief, Malwarebytes failed to install. Also when I had downloaded that fishy software I had actually downloaded two different versions and the other one I still have on my computer, never actually finished the installation though as it just stopped halfway through. ![]() Please help me? How do I find out if and what kind of malware/virus I've got on my computer and then - how do I get rid of it?Įdit: I have AdBlocker installed and when I started getting these pop-ups I was stupid and installed more safari plug-ins. ![]() I have no idea if this software is reliable and if this is true so. I haven't done anything else with it but it popped up and said: It's a MacBook Pro 13" from mid 2014.Īs I got a bit panicked today I googled "malware mac" and ended up on "Insider" which linked to a malware software called CleanMyMacX which I downloaded and installed. I obviously got a bad feeling by that so I shut it down and removed the program with an app called AppCleaner. During the installation Terminal opened up on my computer and it wrote things on terminal by it self. A few weeks ago I tried to download a program (pirate/not verified. I keep getting pop-ups on Safari, and I've never had that problem before. Malware/virus? Hey there! I think my computer might be infected.
